Sporting Champs are committed to providing an engaging, supportive and inclusive learning and working environment that is free from discrimination for everyone in our community. We aim to create an environment of mutual respect and celebrate diversity of all backgrounds where all staff and children are able to achieve their full potential.
Sporting Champs is fully committed to the fair treatment of everyone, including children, staff, visitors and those applying for work or work experience regardless of age, race, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and religion or belief [including non belief].
To achieve the objective of creating an inclusive environment free from discrimination and open and welcome to all, Sporting Champs will:
● Ensure that the company stands by and observes the commitments of this policy
● Respect and embrace the different racial origins, religions, languages and cultures in a multi-ethnic society so that each child is valued as an individual without racial or gender stereotyping.
● Help and encourage all children to celebrate and express their cultural and religious identity by providing a wide range of appropriate resources and activities.
● Ensure that our recruitment policies and procedures are fair, open and non discriminatory.
● Making sure that staff know their responsibilities and understand and apply them
● Work to fulfil all the legal requirements of the Equality Act 2010
All staff are responsible for:
● Ensuring that they understand and apply this policy throughout their day to day activities and interactions.
● Any reported breaches will be investigated through the relevant staff procedures.
● Staff who have concerns about unlawful discrimination, harassment or bullying are advised to contact HR immediately.
Admission - All children aged 4-11 years are catered for and welcome. Information about each child is taken from the parents/guardians at the time of registration to collate contact details and any additional information about the child such as dietary requirements, allergies, medical conditions and any other additional needs to ensure that each child’s needs are fully met.
Access to resources - A range of resources are available for a range of activities, age groups and abilities.
Access to activities - All children are given the opportunity to participate in all activities, providing it is safe and appropriate.
Racial harassment - Sporting Champs will not tolerate any form of racial harassment. Colleagues will challenge racist and discriminatory remarks, attitudes and behaviour from the children, from colleagues and from any other adults on JAG premises (e.g. parents/guardians collecting children).
Children with additional needs - Sporting Champs recognises that some children have additional needs that require particular support and assistance. Children will be admitted providing the Setting Manager is confident that we can meet their needs without jeopardising the service in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act. Every effort will be made to accommodate children with additional needs.
